Casting and Dating are very similar...

CASTING VS. TINDER

The worlds of casting and dating share intriguing similarities. Just as we are attracted to people we find authentic and confidentially themselves, so do Casting Directors look for actors who can embody characters authentically and with ownership.

When you’re swiping through profiles on Tinder, it's a lot like Casting Directors swiping through a series of headshots. As we swipe, we begin to narrow down the pool of options. The thing that we are really looking to see is:

Who are you?
What are you bringing to the table?

If you're too busy trying to please someone else, we can't get a sense of who you are and what you have to offer

Now this one is for the people pleasers..and don’t worry I feel you!
The reason why we are trying to please someone else is because we care.
We want to be liked, loved, validated, or maybe all of the above.
Whatever the reason may be, we want something from another person.

However, that wanting becomes desperate, and immediately it becomes obvious that we are being inauthentic, whether that’s in the dating realm or in the Casting Director’s seat.

Actors often try to please or fit a mould of what they think Casting Directors want, rather than just being authentically themselves

The qualities we find attractive in a person when we’re dating are the same qualities Casting Directors find attractive in actors:

Confidence, authenticity, honesty & truthfulness, playfulness, enthusiasm, humour, and a sense of fun!
